That is why you want to be able to trust an ICT environment that guarantees availability and security of your company data. Replication is a technique that provides extra protection for the data in your databases and on your storage servers.
With databases, Combell offers replication for SQL (Microsoft) and MySQL (Linux). Replication starts from the principle that the files are saved in a second location. With database replication, we develop a system for which the data from the database are continually replicated to a second database. If a problem occurs on the level of the database, a second machine performs immediate failover, in which it takes over the task of the first database.
Hardware-based and software-based solutions
For data replication, Combell is experienced with both hardware-based as software-based solutions. For the replication of SAN, Combell chooses to replicate to a second SAN, in another data centre.
The only restriction to this type of hardware-based replication is generally that both SAN are of the same brand. For software-based data replication on Windows, Combell uses DFS-R. For data replication on Linux, there is Rsync. To sum things up, those are the products that make sure the folders from one database remain synchronous at all times with the folders from the second database.
